Novius OS is an Open Source content management system (CMS). Being designed as an applications platform, it helps users to easily manage all digital-communication-related data from one single interface: websites, newsletters, mobile and tablets applications, product catalogues or social media.
“Is the future of CMS finally coming up?” This is how Albert Bruc, former LinuxFrench editor-in-chief described the first Novius OS version. Led by a dream team of engineers as well as contributors from Japan to US, this project is taking off. Today this talented team is glad to announce the launch of Novius OS 'Berlin' version.

Daniel Jacobson's engineering work on Create Once Publish Everywhere and the Future-Friendly manifesto confirmed our intuition: all remains to be done on CMS, there is a lot of room for innovation...and for new-comers! The Novius OS team started this project from a straightforward observation: today's Internet is multichannel and multidevice. However most of CMS are limited to web pages publication, mixing content and layout. Not Novius OS. It differs from well-known CMS such as Drupal or Wordpress thanks to the way it organises content. The software aims at freeing content by providing a data-centralisation system which enables broadcasting through plenty of communication channels.
- Novius OS uses the latest Web technology: HTML5, jQuery UI and Wijmo.
- Novius OS is an open-source project, distributed under the GNU AGPL v3 license.
- A 'Made in France' project, led by Novius R&D labs and supported by the French Ministry of Research (research tax credit).
- An international reach, 2/3 of the visitors being non-France based: #1 USA, #2 Japan, #3 Germany, #4 UK, #5 Indonesia.
- Novius OS is available in French and English and it is currently being translated by the Japanese and Russian community.
- Around 200 monthly commits on GitHub – a social development platform – and more than ten active contributors.
- Novius OS first version (0.1) was called 'Amsterdam', a reference to the founders of FuelPHP framework, which Novius OS is powered by. Version 0.2 is called 'Berlin' as the German community is today the one who most actively works on the project.
- A multitasking interface to improve productivity : Novius OS interface is straightforward and smart and is available both on tablet and desktop. Users can easily go from one tab to the other without losing their content and save the work space to save time.
- A single tool to manage several sites in many languages : Novius OS is natively multisites and multilanguage, it is therefore easy to share content and media according to the context and language.
- Native or tailored applications to perfectly suit the company's activity : in addition to native applications made for digital communication, tailored applications can be created either by users or by an expert in order to better suit the business' needs.
- A powerful and user-friendly media centre : media are organised as a standard file explorer. Intuitive and fast, the media centre keeps the images' HD versions and offers a SEO feature.
- An ideal environment for developers : Novius OS gives developers all they need to create applications with no effort: applications creation assistant, standardised UI, internal and external connectors or theming. Feel free to check the community forums, you are most welcome!
- Content centre : just like the media centre, this application allows users to sort, organise and share content available in Novius OS particularly towards social media.
- Posta : this application will be the bridge towards Novius e-mailing software. Users will be able to send e-mailing folders from Novius OS Content centre.
